Cape Cod Exteriors was built around one idea — that homeowners on the Cape deserve a contractor who is properly licensed, genuinely experienced, and focused exclusively on exterior work. No upselling, no subcontracting surprises, no chasing volume across the state.
We serve Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard exclusively. That focus means we know the towns, the codes, the weather, and the homes.

Clear scope, honest pricing, no surprises. We tell you what your project needs and what it costs — before anything starts.
We source materials from local Cape Cod suppliers — including Shepley's, Mid-Cape Home Centers, Falmouth Lumber, and Stonewood — wherever possible. Your project stays local from start to finish.
Our founder has visited and measured over 3,000 Cape Cod and Martha's Vineyard homes, with 600+ exterior projects completed. That experience shows up on every job.
Cape Cod homeowners talk. We built this company on the belief that doing the job right — not fast, not cheap, but right — is the only way to build a reputation worth having.

Picture it — the whole family is on the Cape. Kids are barefoot on the hardwood, chasing each other through the house. The windows are wide open. There's food on the grill, boats on the water, fireworks after dark. It's the day everyone lives for out here.
Now picture that the contractor who replaced your windows last spring didn't have their LSR-S certification. Fine lead dust settled into the floors, the windowsills, the soil by the front door. The kids are crawling around in it. Nobody can see it, smell it, or taste it — and the damage it does is permanent. That's not a what-if. That's what happens when the wrong contractor does the job.
The Cape has one of the oldest housing stocks in the country. The shingled colonials, the saltboxes, the old Capes passed down through families — they're beautiful, and they were almost all built before 1978. That character comes with lead paint in the trim, the sills, and the frames. It's not a reason to panic. It's a reason to hire someone certified to handle it.
Children under 6 absorb lead at a much higher rate than adults. Even microscopic exposure during a renovation can cause irreversible neurological damage — affecting IQ, behavior, and development. There is no safe level of lead exposure for children.
Massachusetts state law requires LSR-S certification — violations carry fines of up to $5,000 per violation. On top of that, the federal EPA RRP Rule (Renovation, Repair, and Painting) under the Toxic Substances Control Act carries penalties of up to $41,484 per violation per day. Most contractors don't have the certification — and many have no idea these laws even apply to them. That's their problem. Until it becomes yours.
We are certified Lead Safety Renovation Supervisors. Every project in a pre-1978 home is handled with full lead-safe work practices — proper containment, HEPA vacuuming, wet methods to suppress dust, and rigorous post-work cleanup. Your home is left safe. Your family stays safe.
Before hiring any contractor for window or door work on an older Cape Cod home — ask to see their LSR-S certification. If they can't produce one, they are working illegally under both Massachusetts law (up to $5,000 per violation) and the federal EPA RRP Rule (up to $41,484 per violation per day). Don't let an uncertified contractor put your family — or their liability — in your home.
📞 Ask Us About Lead SafetyHistoric district work requires more than a license — it requires understanding of architectural character, approved materials, and the approval process. We've done it.
Massachusetts requires contractors to be properly licensed before working on your home. Here is every credential Cape Cod Exteriors holds — you can verify each one.
Massachusetts Unrestricted Construction Supervisor License — the highest residential license tier in the state. It authorizes us to supervise structural work on any home up to 35,000 cubic feet, which covers virtually every Cape Cod residence. Many contractors hold only a restricted license.
Massachusetts HIC License is required by law for any contractor performing home improvement work. Always ask to see this before hiring.
OSHA-30 certification means job site safety is taken seriously. Most contractors only carry OSHA-10. We hold the higher standard.
Massachusetts law requires LSR-S certification for any project disturbing painted surfaces in pre-1978 homes — most of Cape Cod. The federal EPA RRP Rule adds another layer: uncertified contractors face fines up to $41,484 per violation per day. Lead dust is invisible and permanently dangerous to children. We are certified. Most contractors are not.
Insurance coverage protects you and your property. Certificate of insurance available before any work begins — no hesitation.
We pull permits on jobs where permits are required — and we handle the process. If a contractor says you don't need one, get a second opinion.
We'll provide proof of every license and insurance policy before any work begins. No hesitation.
